This device is now maintenance-free and the user cannot get dirty through the greasy threaded rod. In addition, the substitution led to significant cost savings.

The developers of 3B Scientific in Klingenthal were able to achieve an improvement in product quality through the igus construction kit not only in the birth simulator.
 
A teaching device in the science programme was also optimised. With the "Boyle-Mariotte device" physics teachers demonstrate the relationship between pressure and volume of a closed gas quantity at constant temperature.
